Program Abstract

This module explains the traffic incident management provisions of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways 11th Edition with Revision 1 (MUTCD), issued in December 2025, that apply to emergency responders working roadway incidents. The module offers guidance on selecting PPE and setting up a traffic incident management area in a manner consistent with the MUTCD’s provisions. The module also describes the origin and importance of the MUTCD.
